ConiuGo LTE modem CAT 4 LAN Review
The ConiuGo LTE modem CAT 4 LAN modem is the subject of this article's review. Although it is sometimes referred to as ConiuGo LTE LAN modem throughout the article, we are actually talking about the CAT 4 version. You can read about the modem's technical specifics, how to send and receive messages with it, and how it is compatible with Ozeki services. The ConiuGo LTE modem CAT 4 review that follows is helpful for those looking to purchase one or just curious about the product. ConiuGo is a German company that provides a number of high-quality goods that are ideal for use with our services and easily accessible in Europe. For this review, we used the LAN version of the ConiuGo LTE modem CAT 4, other models use Serial or USB ports instead of a LAN connection.
What is ConiuGo LTE modem CAT 4 LAN?
The ConiuGo LTE modem CAT 4 LAN is a type of modem designed to provide LTE (Long-Term Evolution) connectivity, specifically supporting the CAT 4 technology.
What is CAT 4?
LTE Category 4 (CAT 4) is an intermediate level of LTE capability and offers improved performance compared to earlier categories like CAT 3 and CAT 2. A CAT 4 modem can provide download speeds of up to 150 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 50 Mbps, under optimal network conditions. The LTE CAT 4 modem is commonly found in various devices, such as smartphones, tablets, portable Wi-Fi hotspots, USB dongles, and Internet of Things (IoT) devices. While it might not be the latest or fastest LTE category available, CAT 4 modems offer high data speeds for most IoT services.

Setting up ConiuGo LTE LAN modem (quick steps)
- Connect ConiuGo LTE LAN to power and network.
- Insert SIM card in modem. (Figure 4)
- Configure modem's IP settings if needed.
- Install Ozeki SMS Server software.
- Add modem in SMS Server settings.
- Configure modem's SMS settings in Ozeki.
- Start sending SMS with Ozeki SMS Server.
Inserting your SIM card into the modem
Inserting the SIM card into the model we have chosen is fairly straight forward with an easy to access SIM card slot (Visible on Figure 4), however, on the industrial version, we could not find any online sources stating exactly where you have to insert the SIM card, it's not from the front of the device and one paper states it is located on the "right" side, which makes it hard to replace after initial install.

Setting up ConiuGo LTE modem CAT 4 LAN modem
Use an Ethernet cable to link the modem's LAN port to the PC's Ethernet port to connect the ConiuGo LTE LAN to the computer. Make sure the PC's network settings are set up to ensure it can automatically obtain an IP address, and the modem should be ready for communication with the PC. The device's default address is 192.168.0.100, and this is where you can make changes to the router's settings if you decide to. The network settings can be modified in the modem's web interface for networks with different IP ranges.
Important: The 'Telnet Com Port Cntrl' property must be set to 'Disable' in the ConiuGo LAN modem's 'Connection' settings. Ozeki SMS Server won't be able to communicate with the modem if this property is set to "Enable."
